Smoke alarms. Gold Coast.

Know what is installed. Know what needs attention.

Arrange smoke alarm installation, replacement or testing with NDR. Get clear advice on your existing alarms and the work required for your property.

Have your smoke alarms
checked as a system.

An older alarm, an unfamiliar installation or a change in how a property is used can leave you unsure what needs attention. Tell us whether you need testing, replacement or a new installation, and what you know about the alarms already in place.

NDR supplies, installs, replaces and tests smoke alarms, including interconnected systems. We work with homeowners, landlords and property managers across the Gold Coast, with the proposed work assessed against the property and applicable requirements.

A useful starting point is the number of storeys and bedrooms, the existing alarm locations and any available model details. Include whether the property is owner-occupied, rented, being sold or undergoing renovation so the relevant situation can be considered.

Plan the right work
for your property.

Our guide to Queensland smoke alarm requirements covers alarm type, interconnection, power supply and locations. Existing wiring and the building's circumstances affect the options. NDR can assess what is installed before recommending which alarms need attention or where additions are required.

Interconnection allows compatible alarms to activate together when one detects smoke. It can use wiring or suitable wireless technology; the correct arrangement depends on the alarms and property. A single replacement should therefore be considered alongside the rest of the installation.

For a rental or managed property, tell us the relevant dates, access arrangements and any information requested by your property manager. For a renovation, raise smoke alarms while the layout and electrical work are being planned. Request a quote covering the agreed testing, replacement or installation work, rather than assuming every property needs the same package.

Excellent pricing, high-quality workmanship, and a very efficient installation. The entire team was professional and friendly—from the office staff through to the tradesmen and even the youngest apprentice. Communication was excellent throughout the process, the work was completed to a very high standard, and everything was left clean and tidy afterwards. I couldn’t be happier with the result and would highly recommend them.

A few questions,
before you book.

Testing, interconnection, replacements and preparing your enquiry.

Do you install smoke alarms?

Yes! We supply, install, replace and test compliant smoke alarms, including interconnected systems to meet applicable legislation.

Do you offer free quotes?

Yes! We offer free, no-obligation quotes across all our services, including electrical, solar, battery and EV charging.

Do you work with real estate agencies and property managers?

Yes! We work with real estate agencies, landlords and property managers, providing maintenance, repairs, installations and electrical safety services.

Can you supply and install equipment, or install customer-supplied products?

We recommend supplying and installing our own equipment to ensure quality, compatibility and full warranty support. We may install customer-supplied products on a case-by-case basis, subject to suitability, compliance and warranty conditions. Product warranties remain the responsibility of the supplier or manufacturer.

How much does smoke alarm installation cost?

The number of alarms, existing wiring, access and the proposed interconnection arrangement affect the quote. Testing existing alarms is also a different scope from replacing or adding them. Share the bedroom and storey count, current alarm details and property use so NDR can assess what work is required.

What does interconnected smoke alarms mean?

When compatible alarms are interconnected, activation of one causes the others in that system to sound. Connections may be wired or use compatible wireless technology. The power supply and interconnection method are separate considerations, so the existing installation should be checked before selecting replacement alarms.

Can I replace a hardwired smoke alarm with a battery alarm?

Do not assume the power arrangements can be changed. Queensland guidance says existing 240-volt alarms must be replaced with 240-volt photoelectric alarms when replacement is required. Have NDR assess the existing installation and the applicable requirements before buying replacements.

Can you help with smoke alarms in a rental property?

Yes. Tell us whether the enquiry is for testing, an existing problem or an installation upgrade. Include the property address, relevant tenancy dates, access contact and any requested documentation. The required work can then be scoped for the property and its current use.

Do the same smoke alarm requirements apply in Queensland and NSW?

Requirements depend on the jurisdiction, building and circumstances. Include the property address and whether it is a rental, sale, renovation or your own home when you enquire. This page focuses on Gold Coast enquiries; the team can assess the relevant requirements for the location of your job.

What should I include when asking for a smoke alarm quote?

Give your suburb, property use, storey and bedroom count, and whether you need testing or replacement. Include the make, model or approximate age of existing alarms if you have that information, and describe any fault. You can email available photos and plans to info@ndrtradesolutions.com.au with your contact details.
